Taxes, Taxes, Taxes…

5th November 2004

As I listen to President Bush talk about tax reform I really wonder if this will ever happen.
Do you think that special interests (Tax lawyers, accountants, etc) will allow this to take place?

Why would we need an accountant to do our taxes if there were a flat tax with virtually no deductions?

How about a national sales tax?  I assume that a national sales tax would not require us to file forms every year.

Very interesting.  I have been in favor of a flat tax for many years because it treats all taxpayers equally.  It would also remove the bias against savings and investment (no income is taxed more than once).

I found a nice explanation of how some of this *could* work HERE.

Let me know what you think :)

Thanks to all who voted for Bush.

3rd November 2004

Thanks to everyone who got out and voted for Bush. I am proud of the fact that we have shown that Republicans can also be stirred into action by a hotly contested race. We are not an apathetic bunch despite what many think.

So…

No one “stole” this one (as if the last one was stolen).
Bush wins the popular vote by a good margin.
Kerry actually concedes instead of listening to Ted Kennedy and his crazy rantings.
Republicans gain in the house and senate.

I would say that we had a *small* referendum in congress.
Now let’s just do something positive with it and be a little gracious.

Here’s a pic for your enjoyment (sorry Dems).
