Manly has a new toy.

I was looking around the other day at some cycling sites. Low and behold I come across the Garmin Edge 305 Cyclecomputer GPS, etc.

I found one online for a lot less than retail so I went ahead and pulled the trigger. It took me about 20 minutes to remove the old Cateye I had on the bike and set up the new Garmin. NICE.

Took me a bit to figure out how to run the thing also. It records everything. Heart rate, cadence, route, workouts, elevation, heading, etc etc. You can then transfer the data to your PC and there are several programs that will log your rides for you and even produce maps of your route.

See the map below for an example. I wimped out a little today as I had a few beers at the horse track last night (no, I didn’t win big!).

I got stuck on the frontage road to the tollway and decided I had better stop at highway 380. Way too many close calls with large trucks. Texas is not a cycling friendly state from the “people” standpoint. WAY too many rednecks that would just as soon run you over as go around.

Later,

Manly
